My left hip pops more that my right one. This one was another skateboard related injury. It pops if it comes above 90 degrees to my body and returns. Its more of a clunk than a pop, very low in pitch and quite audible. My right hip pops rarely, but when it does its great. It usually happens when I sit on the floor (indian style).

RE: Possible correlation between double-jointedness and cracking
I respectfully disagree with your statement that being double jointed means you are injury prone. i have been skateboarding for a long time and time and time again being a little more flexible in certain spots has saved me from being seriously hurt.

Possible correlation between double-jointedness and cracking
I am double jointed in my shoulders and wrists to the point I can remove them from the joints at will. Do you think there is any correlation between being genetically predisposed to being double jointed and the affinity for cracking?

RE: Sternum crack?
I didn't know anyone else could do that. Mine started after an especially brutal slam. I have been skateboarding for almost 10 years and I attribute almost every one of my recurring craks to my pasttime. When my sternum cracks i feel a simultaneous crack between two very specific vertabrae in my upper back.

RE: Jaw
my jaw popped one time a couple years ago, and I think I pinched a nerve. I had a metallic taste in my mouth for 2 weeks afterwards. Pretty lame if you ask me. It also hurt like h**l.

RE: I joined for multiple reasons
same here i was attempting to better learn about our habit after an evening of thorough cracking. I think its interesting and addicting, the crack that is.

RE: ELBOWS! I mean really!
I only crack my elbows maybe twice a day, but when I do look out. It's gnarly. I get a thoroughly satisfying crunch, not pop. Im sure I am damaging my elbows but they are destroyed from years of skateboarding anyway.
