Jaw

I think it is cool when I pop my jaw. It makes this really loud sound, especially when my jaw is tense. It sometimes pops the other jaw, making a "POP-pop" sound. But, if you do not already pop your jaw, I don't recommend starting!

my jaw popped one time a couple years ago, and I think I pinched a nerve. I had a metallic taste in my mouth for 2 weeks afterwards. Pretty lame if you ask me. It also hurt like h**l.

If my jaw pops it does make a very loud noise and is usually rather painful. I remember this happened when yawning on very rare circumstances. I don't crack my jaw on a regular basis.

I can pop my jaw in the morning… I'm not a huge fan of it, though. I remember earlier this summer, I was swimming in my pool and I was underwater for a long time (with the snorkel). When I came up, my jaw was "locked" in place, and I kept popping it for almost an hour before it finally felt better! To be honest, I really hate when I even accidentally pop my jaw! It feels really wierd.

I never pop my jaw on purpose, I have mild TMJ (which isnt fun for those of you who don't have it)… my jaw will pop when I eat things that I have to open my jaw more than normal for, or sometimes when I yawn, or even when I'm talking... chewing gum makes it worse, and it will ache for up to 5 minutes afterward... not cool.

I'm really glad I do not have TMJ, as I began popping my jaw in 6th grade on February 2, 2005. I hope your TMJ doesn't worsen.
Edit, August 21, 2008:
I still don't have TMJ. I continue to pop my jaw. I hope your TMJ is not worsening -
I'm 53 years old and have been cracking my jaw since i was about 13 years old. I can only get it to crack on the right side. I know this is going to sound bizarre but i do it by either hitting my jaw bone from the side where the jaw curves down a little below the ear and if i cant get the pop by by hitting it with my fist i use a small hammer..weird huh. Of course i can't do this in front of anybody, they would think i'm nuts. I never get any TMJ or jaw pain but i'm worried about causing damage to my jaw and i'm trying hard to stop this weird habit.
