    • RE: Long time Cracker 20Years

I started cracking around the age of six, my brothers taught me how. I'm 42 now so I've been at it for over 35 years, longer then a most of you have been alive it seems. I've never had any problems related to cracking, although I do know a number of people my age who don't crack but do have joint problems.

    • RE: Second Thoughts

Well, I started cracking before I started school at age 7. I'm 42 now and the only joint problems I have are the result of a broken ankle.

    • RE: Cracking knees

Have you tried just squatting? When I squat down low both my knees give out multiple cracks.

    • RE: How and when did your Joints Start Cracking?

I've been cracking as long as I can remember. My older brothers taught me. In second grade me and several other boys would crack just to annoy the teacher. She hated the sound of knuckles cracking. LOL

    • RE: Bizarre cracking fantasies

      @verlaine:

I have to confess that I have bizarre fantasies about devices and situations that will crack my back, and sometimes I obsess about them. I dream of being in a medieval torture rack or being chained between two cars and pulled apart until my back totally cracks.

Also, I have also thought about havingt a giant King Kong-sized being grab me with one hand around my shoulders and one hand around my waist and wring me out like a dishtowel.

      Anybody else?

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. As a kid when I watched Addams Family re-runs my favorite part was when Gomez was on the rack. When Lurch would turn the wheel & there would be a loud crack & Gomez would get this relieved look on his face. I once had my older brothers tie my hands to a fence post and tie a rope around my ankles & start pulling to try to get my back to crack like that. Unfortunately our mom saw us & kinda freaked out, so I never did get that satisfying crack.

    • RE: How easy is it for you to crack your joints?

I can easily crack my smaller joints (fingers, toes even knees) The big ones give me problems. I can occasionally crack my neck & back. I love the feeling when my jaw cracks but that only ever happens by accident.

    • RE: Pain

Never used to feel pain, but I broke my right ankle last year & now I feel pain when I crack the toes on that foot. The ankle itself no longer cracks because of the steel implants.

    • RE: Da Most Relieving Crack |3~

For me the best crack is my jaw, just because it's so rare. It only cracks by accident & is always very loud. For some reason when my jaw cracks I feel soooooo realaxed!

    • RE: Read me!

I don't think he's medical student either. As far as joint cracking goes I've talked about it with my own M.D. He would prefer I not do it as the jury is still out on whether it causes harm, but admits he'd prefer I crack my joints rather then take up some other stress-relieving vice such as smoking or drinking.
