Do you let the pressure build up as long as you can

Whats the cut off point. Sometimes I've left it build up and its not actually cracked or other times I've left for a while and its produced an amazing noise.

I haven't been able to stand leaving it more than 3 minutes but you're right, it's SO satisfying.
